SJPOA Members Approve Pay Cut Extension

SAN JOSE--This morning, December 20th, the membership of the San Jose Police Officers' Association approved a tentative agreement between the POA and the City of San Jose to extend a 10% pay cut for police officers through the 2012/2013 fiscal year. Prior to this agreement, the 10% pay cut that San Jose police officers agreed to in June in their last contract would have expired in July 2012.

The tentative agreement passed by a vote of 441 to 317.

Commenting on the vote, SJPOA President Unland said, "Our contract will run through June 30, 2013. We are still in negotiations with the City on our pensions. Today's vote will save officer jobs and save San Jose taxpayers $30 million."
